Today I write as it is important to note that a scream can heal so many things within us that we don't understand. The world however filters us and pressures us to keep the pain hidden. Tricking us to wear a mask or risk rejection and scrutinising judgement. Sometimes all we need is the will power to let go and wail. To give ourselves the permission to scream, no matter how wild or broken it may sound.
This is my scream.
You hold me within this delicate vessel
You bind me within your mind
The winds of change whistle and howl
Deep from the caverns of this soul
I let go, and will you out
You show your force, grave and sharp
Beneath this mask of beauty
War torn, lost and ragged, weeping
Keeping nothing of grace
Pure raw unbridled feeling breaks forth
From this fake facade
Climbing out, restless, free
Breath busts out past broken lips
Cry rips the wind, jagged, shrill
You have escaped from me... Finally
A visceral vow painted with truth
Of how I really feel
Its OK, I love you still
No matter the onlookers glare
Oh self, gifted with permission
To share your beautiful sound
Of torment
This is my scream.
You hold me within this delicate vessel
You bind me within your mind
The winds of change whistle and howl
Deep from the caverns of this soul
I let go, and will you out
You show your force, grave and sharp
Beneath this mask of beauty
War torn, lost and ragged, weeping
Keeping nothing of grace
Pure raw unbridled feeling breaks forth
From this fake facade
Climbing out, restless, free
Breath busts out past broken lips
Cry rips the wind, jagged, shrill
You have escaped from me... Finally
A visceral vow painted with truth
Of how I really feel
Its OK, I love you still
No matter the onlookers glare
Oh self, gifted with permission
To share your beautiful sound
Of torment
